An EXCELLENT resource for information about everything about disabilities up to and including the kitchen sink!  The folks here know about everything and if they don't, they know who to ask!
ADAPT is a an advocacy group that strives make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights as everyone else, especially the right to access.  Another focus is getting people out of nursing homes and institutions and into the community where we belong!  The contact for the local Atlanta chapter is Cheri Mitchell.

This is a self-advocacy group for people with disabilities.  That means people with disabilities speaking for ourselves and making our own decisions.
NEWSLINE Service from National Foundation for the Blind

Keep up with what is going on in your community and the world!  This is a way to access nationwide newspapers and magazines by the telephone.  You can also check your local television television listings!  This is a great way to know what is going on in your community and to keep current on local events.
People with visual disabilities, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities that make it difficult to access print are eligible.  The newspapers are also available by internet.




GEORGIA VOICES THAT COUNT

This has been an amazing experience!  GVTC is a advocacy and self-advocacy training program.  I have been part of Class #6 of this awesome group.  I would HIGHLY recommend it to ANYBODY who wants to have more of a voice for themselves and their community.  You can find information about GVTC on the disAbility Link website below.  CLICK HERE for pictures from GVTC.

The purpose of this group is to reduce or eliminate the waiting lists for Medicaid Waivers for people with disabilities and their families. 
 
Georgia Canines for Independence
This website comes from a recommendation from a reader of my AJC article.  GCI is a small group that works to train dogs and place them with people with disabilities.
Job Enable
This is a job search website by and for people with disabilities.  The creator of this site recommended it to me after seeing my AJC article.  It is a place for employees and potential employers to post job listings, resumes, etc.  Looks like a wonderful resource!
