First of all, if you plan to get your own house or apartment and are living on SSI or other disability income, apply for SECTION 8 assistance.  This will help to keep your rent affordable and within a limited budget.

Another important thing to do is contact your utility companies and talk to them about their programs for customers with disabilities.  For example, a person with a physical disability who can't use the phone book can get unlimited 411 information calls.  Other utilities have similar programs available.
