Atlanta Area Attractions

Here are some of the Atlanta Area attractions I've been to and how it went as far as transportation, accessiblity, etc.
GEORGIA AQUARIUM
This was a great trip!  The aquarium is easy to reach and lots of fun once you get there.  You can reach the aquarium by getting off the MARTA train at the World Congress Center Station and walking about 4 blocks through downtown on good sidewalks and crosswalks.  Once you're inside, the aquarium has wide walkways, accessible bathrooms, and ramps to get everywhere you need to go.

WORLD OF COCA-COLA
Very close to the Georgia Aquarium.  Get off MARTA at World Congress Center and walk over. The museum itself has ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms.  There are captioning devices for the opening movie and non-moving seats available for the "4-D" movie.  Just be sure to try the Beverly..it tastes wonderful!

ATLANTA BRAVES GAMES
To get tickets to Braves games, go to the Ticketmaster counter at Publix (customer service counter) or call Ticketmaster at 404-249-6400.  Ordering online is an option, but if you have a wheelchair, you'll still have to call in to get your accessible seat!
The stadium itself is very accessible with accessible bathrooms, wide walkways, and plenty of elevators.  There are accessible seats in most sections with great views of the games.  The ushers are very friendly and helpful.
As far as transportation, the easiest way to get there is to take MARTA to the Five Points Station.  Get off there and follow the signs to the Braves Shuttle.  All the buses have lifts, so you can get on any shuttle bus and go!

PHILLIPS ARENA, CNN CENTER, GEORGIA WORLD CONGRESS CENTER
You can get to concerts, conventions, and events at these locations by taking MARTA to the World Congress Center Station and walking to any of these venues on nice wide sidewalks with crosswalks.

STONE MOUNTAIN PARK
There are no MARTA rail lines or bus routes that go to the park, but you can take a MARTA Mobility van if you call ahead for reservations.  The park itself has accessible bathrooms & wide paved walkways.  The train is lift-equipped, and the Great Barn has elevators to upper floors for children who use wheelchairs.

Me with one of my heroes!  D.J. Shockley, former UGA quarterback now with the Atlanta Falcons!
ATLANTA FALCONS TRAINING CAMP
The Atlanta Falcons Training Camp is in Flowery Branch Georgia.  It was AWESOME to see what all they go through on a daily basis to get ready to play!  Training camp is free and open to the public.  There is accessible parking and a patio to sit on that is under a tent (in case of rain).  There are answers to most questions you may have HERE.
